Kenny McGee

Founder & CEO, Component Sense
Kenny McGee is the founder and CEO of Component Sense. While working for one of the largest global electronic component distributors, Kenny was stunned to learn of surplus, or "excess and obsolete (E&O)" inventory, within the electronics industry. Electronic manufacturers, Kenny learned, regularly mark surplus-to-requirements electronic components as "scrap" and send these valuable, resource-intensive parts to landfills. Kenny was inspired to create Component Sense as a solution to this problem.

Established in 2001, Component Sense is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, with operations worldwide. Component Sense provides sustainable excess and obsolete solutions to electronic manufacturers, helping them to identify and redistribute their E&O in an environmentally friendly and profitable way. Kenny firmly believes in the business opportunities provided by choosing circularity and sustainability. For him, sustainability makes business sense.

Kenny is passionate about circularity, customer service, and company culture. He is also determined to positively impact the wider electronics industry. As part of this goal, Kenny has recently travelled to Agbogbloshie, Ghana — one of the world's largest electronic wastelands. In collaboration with award-winning photojournalist Carolina Rapezzi, Kenny is working to shed light on the growing e-waste problem and provide sustainable solutions for communities in Agbogbloshie.
