Julie King

CEO, Thunderstorm Ventures Limited

Julie King is Co-founder and CEO of Thunderstorm Ventures, a Sports and Entertainment management company for the Environment. For over a decade, she worked in Sport and Music management and promotions to build value in IP - from developing youth and junior olympic programmes, to marketing national team matches for sports federations to building the international tour programme with collegiate athletes for friendly matches with clubs and national teams in Africa, South America and Europe. For music, Julie was a booking agent for live performances across the US and Europe and also managed the business-side of concert and tour promotions for promoters-on-record.

Julie continued a focus on sports and entertainment in law school at Queen Mary University of London and published a number of articles on the protection of personality rights and human rights in sport. But after law school, Julie inadvertently became involved in environmental tech when working for a HNWI investor to help acquire and commercialise intellectual property assets in water tech companies. She has worked with international conservation organisations like WWF International Freshwater Practice, as well as the global pump company, Grundfos, as well as co-founding a SaaS start-up to optimise water and wastewater treatment to reduce water, energy and chemical usage. Now with Thunderstorm, these two worlds merge around her vision to harness elite sport and entertainment to drive tangible environmental results through project development and strategic partnerships between rights holders, eNGOs and sponsoring brands.

Julie continues to write for mainstream water sector publications and is co-authoring books with her business partner, Jacob Tompkins, including the book, What About Water?  The Missing Element in Sustainability in Sports.
