Reset Connect London 2024

Water scarcity is an existential challenge, with countries like Mexico already facing severe shortages—Mexico City will run out of drinking water very soon!

However, the core problem often lies not in water availability but in its management.

Aditi Mukherji, director of the Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Impact Action Platform at CGIAR, emphasizes that climate change is not the sole culprit. Poor water management, primarily due to decades of underinvestment in water treatment infrastructure, is a significant factor. This neglect has polluted surface waters and depleted underground aquifers, necessitating immediate action to address a 50-year backlog in investments.

Building and upgrading sewage treatment infrastructure requires substantial capital, making it challenging for many municipalities to undertake these projects solely with public funds. There’s only one way out: We need a disruptive and totally new, out-of-the-box approach. This is where Dutch Clean Tech steps in.

Dutch Clean Tech is pioneering the integration of private investment to construct essential water treatment plants and management systems in municipalities worldwide. Sander Pielkenrood, CEO of Dutch Clean Tech, will present an innovative approach that applies the principles of the sharing economy to the water industry. This visionary strategy creates a win-win scenario for people in desperate need of clean water, municipalities, and investors, ensuring sustainable water solutions and attractive financial returns.

By integrating fintech and eco-tech, Dutch Clean Tech addresses the global water crisis, aiming to build resilient communities and realize the vision of providing clean water for everyone.
